Thomas Cook India Ltd has organised the third edition of 'Holiday Summer Sale' road show. The three-month long road show, which began on January 9, 2010, in Cochin, will cover 34 cities across India. In Mumbai, it was held from January 29-31 at the Bandra Kurla Complex. The event is being managed by an inhouse team at Thomas Cook.

The Grape Escapade 2010 is a four-day wine and haute cuisine festival organised by Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (GTDC) and the Department of Tourism. It is being held from January 23-26 at the Inox Courtyard at Campal in Panaji. This is the sixth edition of the annual festival.
The main objective of this B2B and B2C festival is to provide a unified platform to vineyard owners, wine makers, wine importers, sommeliers and food lovers. Several foreign and domestic wineries, as well as Goa-based hotels and restaurants, have partnered with GTDC for the festival.

EEMA lambasts PPL 'propaganda'; says 'music licensing bodies exploiting loopholes'
The Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) has issued an official statement detailing its point of view on the subject of music licences for live events. An EEMA official explained the context in which the strong statement has been issued. He said, "Recently the issue of music licencing has been gaining quite a lot of attention in the media and legal circles. Also, our friends from the music industry have been releasing large advertisements aimed at creating a fear psychosis among event managers, clients and venues, and thereby trying to extract unfair amounts of money in the process. We would like to bring out our point of view on the subject and try to make this issue easy to understand by event managers, clients and the public at large."
The official further clarified, "As an industry association of event management companies all over India, EEMA is not opposed to the payment of music licences. However, we are opposed to the exploitation by some of the self-proclaimed authorities in collection of music licences. The bodies, which have been authorised to collect music licencing under the Indian Copyright Act, have been exploiting the loopholes in the Act and the lack of guidelines or framework set-out by the government."

Coca-Cola in India has announced the launch of its globally premium energy drink brand ‘Burn’. As part of the phased roll-out, Burn will be promoted in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore initially. Union Cabinet doubles budget for CWG 2010; opening and closing ceremonies to benefit
The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports for providing a revised budget of Rs 1,620 crore, as loan to the Organising Committee of Commonwealth Games 2010. The loan has been approved at the prevailing government rate of interest, for organising the XIX Commonwealth Games at Delhi during October 3-14, 2010. The budget approved earlier for the games was Rs 767 crore.

SportzConsult launches Kerala Volleyball League on the lines of IPL
Franchisee team models seems to be the way forward for new sport properties in India. Sports management firm SportzConsult has joined hands with the Kerala State volleyball Association to launch Kerala Volleyball League (KVL). On the lines of Indian Premier League (IPL) and the recently-announced T10 Gully Cricket Championships, the professional volleyball league will also follow the frachisee model for teams.
